Terms of Service

The short version

EnglishTuts has a free tier (grammar lessons, MCQ quizzes, fill-in-the-gap, card games) and paid tiers (AI-checked practice subscriptions and live 1-on-1 video lessons with marketplace teachers). Don't scrape, redistribute, resell, or republish our content. Don't try to break the site. Paid subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel; lesson credits are length-bound and follow our Refund Policy. Live lessons are recorded by the platform for safety. We provide everything "as-is" without warranties.

1. Who can use the site

Anyone, anywhere. There's no minimum age requirement, but if you're under 13, please ask a parent or guardian first. By using the site you confirm you accept these terms.

2. Your account

You can use the site without an account. If you create one, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe. We'll never ask you for your password.

3. Content license

All lessons, explanations, examples, exercises, and questions on EnglishTuts are original works owned by us. You're granted a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to read and practice with this content for your own learning.

You may NOT, under any circumstances:

  • Copy, mirror, or republish lessons, exercises, or any portion of the site on any other website, app, blog, social platform, or printed material.
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest the site or any underlying API by any automated means, including but not limited to bots, headless browsers, proxies, or AI agents.
  • Sell, sublicense, rent, lease, or redistribute any content, in whole or in part, for any consideration whatsoever.
  • Use any of our content — text, examples, exercises, or question banks — to train, fine-tune, evaluate, benchmark, or otherwise improve any artificial intelligence, machine-learning model, large language model, or dataset, whether commercial, academic, or open-source, without our explicit prior written permission. Mass-extracting our content for AI training is an unauthorized commercial use and will be pursued.
  • Strip, hide, alter, or interfere with any copyright notice, watermark, branding, or attribution.
  • Frame, embed, or wrap the site inside any other product or service.

Violations are taken seriously. We will pursue takedowns, file DMCA notices, issue legal demand letters, and where applicable refer the matter to platform providers (hosting, payment, app stores) and law enforcement. See our DMCA Takedown Policy.

4. Acceptable use

By using EnglishTuts you agree not to:

  • Probe, scan, fingerprint, or test for vulnerabilities — including port scanning, fuzzing, SQL/XSS injection attempts, parameter tampering, header tampering, or any unauthorized security research.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with authentication, rate limits, anti-abuse measures, RLS policies, or any other access control.
  • Send spam, phishing, malware, scripts, or payloads via the suggestion box, account fields, or any submission endpoint.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, headless browsers, AI agents, prompt-injection vectors) for any purpose without our prior written consent.
  • Impersonate EnglishTuts, our staff, or another user, in any communication or content.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, prompts, model artefacts, or proprietary content beyond what is publicly served to a normal browser.
  • Submit content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, infringing, defamatory, or designed to deceive other users.
  • Resell, white-label, or commercially exploit access to the site, its content, or any account.

Any violation results in immediate account termination and may result in IP blocking, legal action, criminal complaint where applicable, and recovery of damages plus our reasonable legal costs.

5. Suggestions and feedback

Anything you submit through the suggestion box or via contact may be used by us to improve the site (read, prioritized, sometimes acted on). By submitting, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use that feedback.

6. Donations

Donations made via the "Support Us" page are voluntary and non-refundable. They're processed by Razorpay; we never see or store your card details. Donations buy you nothing on this site — they're a thank-you, not a purchase.

6a. The paid IELTS plan

What it covers. One paid plan, sold at three commit lengths — 1, 3 or 6 months. It opens both IELTS courses (General Training and Academic) and the AI feedback on Writing and Speaking. Everything else on the site — grammar, vocabulary, games, the daily quiz, reading and listening — is free and needs no plan.

Changing commit length. Switching to a different commit length starts a new billing period from the date of the switch.

Canceling. You can cancel anytime from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period and you keep access until then. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy — in short, we do not refund partial periods.

Auto-renewal. The plan is billed through Razorpay and auto-renews at the end of each commit period until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize us, through Razorpay, to charge your saved payment method on each renewal.

Tax invoices. Each charge produces a GST-compliant invoice available in your account.

6b. Lesson packages, single lessons, and credits

Lesson packages and single-class purchases are paid one-off via Razorpay and grant credits bound to a specific lesson length (30, 45, or 60 minutes). Credits expire at the end of the validity window shown at purchase. A 30-minute credit can only be redeemed for a 30-minute lesson, and likewise for 45 and 60. Refunds and credit-restoration rules are in our Refund Policy.

Cancellation by student: cancel a booked lesson 12+ hours before start to get the credit back; under 12 hours forfeits the credit and the teacher receives ⅓ of the lesson rate. From the 11th refunded cancellation in any single calendar month onwards, further cancellations forfeit the credit regardless of notice given. Full details in the Refund Policy.

Cancellation by teacher: if a teacher cancels, your credit is fully restored.

6c. Live 1-on-1 lessons — recording and conduct

All lessons are conducted inside our embedded video room. For your safety and ours, every lesson is recorded by the platform for quality assurance, safety review, dispute resolution, and student-requested replay. You and the teacher are both notified of recording at lesson start. Default retention is 90 days.

Teachers are not permitted to record the lesson or to receive recordings — only the platform records, and only the platform admin (and you, on request) can view a recording.

No off-platform contact. Teachers are bound by the Teacher Partner Agreement not to ask you for personal contact details, payments, or off-platform lessons. Please report any teacher who does so via support — we take it seriously.

Marketplace role. EnglishTuts is the marketplace connecting you to independent freelance teaching partners. Teachers are not our employees, and although we vet them and require contractual compliance, you take lessons with a teacher at your own discretion. We are not liable for the conduct of any individual teacher beyond what is required by law; we will however take prompt action on any reported misconduct.

6d. AI-checked practice

On paid practice features (sentence-making, dialogues, AI speaking, listening, reading, test prep) your answer is sent to a third-party AI model for scoring and feedback. The privacy policy names the providers we use. By using these features you consent to that processing. AI feedback is provided for learning and is not infallible — use your judgment and check edge cases with a human teacher when it matters.

7. Disclaimer

EnglishTuts is provided "as-is" for educational purposes. We work hard to keep content accurate but make no warranties about completeness, fitness for any purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Use at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, EnglishTuts and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of India.
